What is DELTA Ahead?
Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancement and Leadership Through Alliances (DELTA): Achieving Health through Addressing Disparities (AHEAD) is a CDC Funded Project for state Domestic Violence Coalitions.
Delta Ahead provides us the opportunity to implement primary prevention strategies, which means we are trying to stop violence from ever happening in the first place.
This allows us to identify what puts individuals most at risk for causing harm or experiencing harm in a relationship, and implement prevention strategies to stop that risk from existing.
We are also able to support the strengths that exist within communities that we know work to prevent violence from happening, such as economic opportunities and mentorships.
Through Delta Ahead, we have two focus areas:
Improving School Climate and Safety
Strengthening Economic Supports for Families
Through this work, we created a State Leadership Team to increase partnerships and collaborations in primary prevention work. The team envisions an equitable and inclusive New Jersey where all people can live safe, healthy, quality, and violence free lives.
